At Home Maternity Photography | Chickens, Vintage & a Baby on the Way
Cool kids having a cool kid.
This maternity session was photographed completely at home, leaning into all the things that already felt like them. Vintage pieces, their own spaces, a bit of wandering around the property and, naturally, the chickens made the cut too.
Because sometimes the best location for maternity photos isn’t a dramatic beach or a field at sunset. It’s your place.
We played with a slightly nostalgic, vintage feel throughout the shoot — using different corners of the home, good pockets of light and all the little details that give a space its personality. Nothing overly “maternity”. Nothing brought in just for the sake of a photo.
Just them, as they are, right before there’s another little human thrown into the mix.
That’s what I love about at-home maternity photography. Your house, your clothes, your pets, your weird little collections and the everyday things surrounding you become part of the story. Years from now, those details might end up meaning just as much as the belly itself.
Maternity photos can be beautiful without being overly polished or precious. They can be weird, stylish, funny, nostalgic, intimate — chickens and all.
And when the parents are already this cool, I reckon the new kid has a fairly decent head start.
If you’re looking for a maternity photographer in Mandurah, Perth or surrounds and want something that feels more like you than a traditional maternity shoot, staying home might just be the answer.
