At Home Family Photography in Falcon | Home Is Part of the Story
There’s a reason I’ll bang on about at-home family sessions forever.This Falcon family photography session started inside a home with a whole lot of history for this family — the kind of place that isn’t just where you live, but part of the story itself. So we photographed it that way. We started inside, using the rooms, familiar corners and everyday bits of home before eventually spilling out the front door, onto the verge and into the surrounding Falcon streets. Nothing needed to be perfectly styled or cleared away. In fact, I think the good stuff is often the opposite. The toys, old furniture, front steps, familiar streets and all those little details you barely notice now are exactly the things that will transport you back there one day. That’s why at-home family photography is one of my favourite ways to photograph families. Kids are comfortable, everyone can settle in and there’s no pressure for your house — or your family — to perform. We can make beautiful portraits, absolutely. But we can also document what it actually felt like to be a family in this place, at this particular point in time. And when the house already holds generations of stories? Even better.
