Extended Family Photography in Mandurah | More Than the Group Shot
Extended family sessions can be a lot. More people, more personalities, kids heading in every direction — and honestly, that’s kind of the good bit.
For this extended family photography session at the beach, of course we made sure to get all the important combinations. The whole crew, grandparents with grandkids, individual families, siblings, couples and all those photos you actually want to have on the wall.
But I’m always looking for the other stuff too.
The tid bits. The in-between scenes. Kids running off, someone fixing someone’s hair, grandparents watching from the sidelines, sandy feet, cuddles, conversations and the little dynamics between people that you couldn’t really plan if you tried.
There’s plenty of movement in my family sessions because standing still and smiling at a camera only tells part of the story. We walk, play, wander and let things unfold while still giving enough direction that nobody is left wondering what the heck they’re supposed to be doing.
The result is a gallery that has the important family photos and all the little pieces happening around them.
Because when you manage to get the whole extended family together in one place, it deserves more than one good group shot.
If you’re looking for an extended family photographer in Mandurah, Falcon or the Peel region, beach sessions are a pretty bloody good way to do it. Space for everyone, room for the kids to move and plenty of opportunity to capture your family exactly as they are right now.
